Context

The smart infrastructure sector is undergoing a transformation thanks to the use of cutting-edge technologies such as AI and IoT. These technologies act as strategic levers to transform cities into “Smart Cities”, improving the quality of services, reducing costs, optimizing resource utilization, and strengthening the relationship between citizens, businesses, and local administration.

The customer specializes in the development of digitization services for infrastructure and monitoring to support safety and maintenance activities.

Their Industry 4.0 civil solutions offer new and more effective safety standards and streamline critical maintenance operations, with implications for the infrastructure's lifecycle.

Challenge

The customer's challenge is to proactively prevent and manage infrastructure deterioration and ensure the safety and efficiency of maintenance activities through the use of an advanced network of smart bolts.

The developed solution embraced the use of advanced algorithms and notification systems to detect any anomalies or signs of degradation. These algorithms were designed to analyze real-time data, identify critical changes, and trigger immediate notifications.

In the context of the project, we focused on the design and development of the responsive user interface, a custom multi-tenant web application capable of effectively and accessibly collecting, managing, and displaying data generated by the infrastructures.

Solution

To ensure a quick implementation and the ability to respond flexibly to user feedback, we have adopted an iterative approach divided into three development waves. We started with the creation of the MVP and then proceeded to implement evolving and enhancing features.

Our development team closely collaborated with the client's back-end development team, taking care of the UI and UX design. The process included defining user flows and information architecture, creating wireframes and wireflows, and designing mockups in line with the client's brand identity.

In subsequent development waves, we focused on optimizing the mobile application and integrating new features, such as spectrogram charts and histogram data visualization.

The key elements of the solution include a customized dashboard that provides a tailored overview based on the authenticated user and a sophisticated analytics platform for interpreting and aggregating the collected data.
